Vernon James “Jim” Girard, 68, pf Pocahontas, passed away on April 20, 2025, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro, AR. Jim was born on October 2, 1956, in Walnut Ridge, AR to the late Vernon C. and Helen Hufstedler Girard.
On December 29, 1981, Jim married the love of his life Lavena Lynn Kidd. They were married for 36 years until she passed away in 2017.
He is preceded in death by his parents Vernon and Helen, his wife, Lynn, brother Glenn Girard, sister-in-law Jackie Kidd and Pamela Oaks, brother-in-law Joey Kidd
His family says that he was the type of man to give the shirt off his back to anyone he came across. In his free time Jim was an avid guitar player, loved shooting pool. He was a truck driver for many years, and he also worked as a farmhand.
Jim is survived by his children: Rachel Jacoby of Leachville, James Girard of Pocahontas and Andrea (Dionna) Girard of Buffalo, NY, one son-in-law David Jacoby of Searcy, AR. Grandchildren Jonathan Jacoby of Valdosta, GA, Garrin and Jaylee Jacoby of Searcy, AR and Brayden Lovato of Center, CO, One great-grandchild Jonathan Jacoby JR of Georgia. One brother Richard (Misty) Girard of Walnut Ridge, AR. Two sister-in-law, Debby Duke, Patricia Leroux, Sonya Kidd, and brother-in-law Randy Blackwell, Bruce Blackwell. And a host of other family and friends.
Pallbearers that are honored to serve is David Jacoby, Jason Rice, Clint Seamans, Allen Hibbard, Kevin Lee and Philip Johnson SR.
The family requested anyone who has motorcycles to show up at the funeral home and let the engines roar all the way to heaven so Jim can hear them because he was an avid lover of motorcycles.
Visitation will be held on Saturday April 26, 2025, from 11:00am to 12:00pm at Bryan Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Palestine Cemetery in Warm Springs, AR, with Cody Slusser officiating.
