Fire Departments in western Lawrence County and Sharp County responded to numerous fires during Wednesday’s Red Flag Conditions.
Several Sharp County Fire Departments including Ozark Acres, Martin Creek, Williford, Arkansas Forestry, Hardy and assistance from Ravenden (Lawrence County) battled a fire that endangered numerous structures in the Bradford Cemetery Road area of Sharp County.
Ravenden Fire Department also responded to other fires caused by the dry conditions, low humidity and high winds including a wildland fire on Lawrence 106 that also endangered structures and was said to have both sides of the road in flames. Imboden and a wildland fire crew from Walnut Ridge Fire Department also responded to assist.
Sharp County had already been placed under a Burn Ban, Judge Gary Barnhill placed Lawrence County under a Burn Ban on Wednesday afternoon.
Numerous fire departments in surrounding counties have responded to dozens of similar wildfires over the last several days during the dry and high wind conditions.
