At 2:04 pm on Wednesday the Lawrence County Dispatch received several 911 calls reporting a multi-vehicle accident caused by zero visibility from a dust storm on Hwy 67 in the area of Fulbright (near Williams Baptist University).
Walnut Ridge Police, Walnut Ridge Fire and medical units from MedicOne were dispatched to the area. Once on scene, Walnut Ridge Police began requesting assistance due to zero visibility in the area.
Units from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, Hoxie Police, Arkansas State Police and Randolph County Sheriff’s Office were requested to assist with closing both north and southbound lanes of Hwy 67.
Additional medical units from ProMed Ambulance in Pocahontas were requested, several injuries were reported. Several patients were transported to area hospitals for treatment of injuries.
Walnut Ridge Fire was clear of the scene at 3:16pm.
Arkansas State Police is investigating the accident.
