On March 1, 2025, the Corning Police Department responded to a domestic altercation at the 300 Block of East Main Street. Upon arrival, officers observed a male and a female with injuries consistent with a physical altercation.

After observing these injuries and speaking to witnesses, officers arrested 32-year-old Christopher Baker of Corning for § 5-26-305 Domestic Battering in the Third Degree, a Class D Felony, due to the person having committed one or more of the following offenses within five years of the offense of domestic battering in the third degree. Aleyshia O’neal, 24, of Corning was also charged with § 5-26-305 Domestic Battering in the Third Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor. On March 3, 2025, Clay County District Judge Dan Stidham found probable cause to charge Mr. Baker with the above-listed charges and set his bond at $100,000 cash or surety bond. Mr. Baker is scheduled to appear in Circuit Court on May 12, 2025.
