BRTC announced today, the 2024 Black River Technical College (BRTC) trap team has made college history by taking 1st Place Team in Conference 2 of the USA Clay Target College League. This championship award is a great triumph for the team. It follows the 2023 Fall season where Sara Roland won 1st place Jr. Varsity Female and the team took 7th place in the conference.
“Since starting our trap team during the 2021-2022 year our team members have received several individual accolades and awards,” said Coach Dane Dillion. “Building on those awards, it has been a goal of mine to accomplish something great as a team, and we have taken that next step with this conference championship.”
The Fall 2024 team consisted of Hayden Barlow, Larry Burrow, Luke Hiser, David Ladd, Wayne Milam, Ava Newton (Career and Technical student), Sara Roland, Connor Tuttle, and Gunner Williams (Career and Technical student).
The 2024 team competed in several tournaments over the course of the season and won several awards. The winners of conference awards were as follows:
Larry Burrow – 2ndPlace Conference Season Average Male
David Ladd – 3rdPlace Conference Season Average Male
Ava Newton – 2ndPlace Conference Season Average Female
Dillion also awarded the team members with the best season average and the best improvement. The team-based awards were given to the following team members.
Larry Burrow – Highest Overall Average
Connor Tuttle – Highest Overall Average Runner-Up
David Ladd – Honorable Mention
Wayne Milan – Most Improved
“I’m excited to carry the momentum of this fall season into the spring ahead of the Arkansas State College Championship,” said Dillion. There the team will compete against all shooting sports colleges in the state, including college like University of Arkansas, Harding University, and College of the Ozarks.
