Lawrence County Dispatch was notified of a vehicle stolen from a residence on Hwy 25 in Powhatan shortly after 7 pm on Friday evening.
Deputies responded to take a report from the victim and canvas the area.
The vehicle was described as a 2017 Cadillac SUV with a headlight out. The victim also provided dispatch with the license plate number on the vehicle as well.
Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted by Black Rock Police and Arkansas State Police began to search the area.
At 7:30 pm an Arkansas State Police Trooper in the area passed a vehicle matching the description of the stolen vehicle on Hwy 25, as the officer turned around on the vehicle, the suspect fled.
Law enforcement pursued the vehicle down Lawrence 264 & Lawrence 265 before losing contact with the vehicle around 7:38 pm.
At 7:51 pm, an off duty officer discovered the stolen vehicle abandoned on Lawrence 219.
The owner of the vehicle was notified, the vehicle was returned to its owner. No suspect information has been released.
