Betty Louise Ruble — a name synonymous with warmth, love, and a smile that could light up any room. Born on a fall day, November 26, 1941, in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, she spent her life spreading joy and kindness until she peacefully passed away on October 26, 2024, just shy of her 83rd birthday in Ocean Springs, MS.
Betty’s life was a testament to her faith as a devout Christian, building strong connections with congregations in Memphis, TN, Pine Bluff, AR, Monticello, AR, Philadelphia, MS, Brandon, MS and Ft Worth, TX. Her dedication and spirit were evident in her constant and cherished service to the Churches of Christ, demonstrating unwavering dedication through her roles in numerous communities.
From a young age, Betty had a love of learning, attending Mississippi Women’s College, Harding College, and acquiring her master’s degree at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. It was this passion that led her to become an elementary teacher, planting the seeds of knowledge and kindness in the hearts of many young children.
Married for a remarkable 61 years to her loving husband, the late James C Ruble, Betty’s greatest joy was undoubtedly her family. Betty embraced her role as a mother and homemaker with a flourish. Always the heart of any gathering, Betty loved nothing more than feeding both spirit and body, making everyone who entered her kitchen feel immensely loved and never hungry. Her legacy of love, devotion, and incredible recipes will live on in the stories and traditions she left with her family. When not in the kitchen or classroom, Betty loved needlework both hand and machine, gardening, and hunting for treasures at her favorite “junk stores”.
She leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory; her brother, Charles Mays and wife Monica; her two sons, Steve Ruble and daughter-in-law Cindy and David Ruble; her daughter Anna and son-in-law Brian Landry; three granddaughters Lauren Williams (grandson-in-law C Jay Williams), Morgan Hilton (grandson-in-law Ryan Hilton), and Alex Brown (grandson-in-law Joe Brown); two grandsons James Ruble (granddaughter-in-law Rachel Ruble) and Scott Lundy; two great grandchildren, Kamari Williams and Ivy Ruble; and many other relatives and friends.
Together, her family will unite in honoring her life and spirit with a graveside service in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, at the Lawrence Memorial Park Cemetery on November 2, 2024, at 10:00 am. Friends and loved ones are welcome to join in celebrating a beautiful soul whose life was a testament to faith, family, and friendship.
