Authorities arrested a Pocahontas student after police say he threatened to shoot up a school.

The Brookland Police Department learned of a threat to the Brookland High School on Sept. 25th at 10 a.m.

School officials placed the school on lockdown due to the threat.

Brookland Police were advised that a suspect had “made threats to shoot up Brookland school” and threatened to kill one of the students.

The suspect, Logan Cody Jones, age 19 of Pocahontas had been in what was described as a toxic relationship with one of the students and the relationship had ended with a break-up note being left on her car while she was in school.

Jones began texting the victim on Sept. 24 from a new phone number, which she did not respond to.

At 1:45 p.m., Jones stated that he was outside of Brookland School

At 4:16 p.m., said, “Answer or I’ll kill you.”

At 4:29 p.m., he sent a text saying, “Answer the phone or I’ll come to shoot up your school,” followed by a threat to her family according to authorities.

The victims mother notified the school after finding out about the threats.

Brookland Police contacted the Pocahontas Police Department after learning that Jones was a student at the Pocahontas School District.

Jones was arrested and taken to the Craighead County Detention Center after he was briefly held at the Randolph County Detention Center.

Authorities say Jones made “incriminating statements to Pocahontas school officials regarding the communication he had sent to the victim.”

A Craighead County Judge found probable cause to charge Jones with:
One count of making a terroristic threat in the 1st degree, a Class D felony

Five counts of terroristic threatening in the 1st degree, a Class D felony

One count of threatening to commit acts of mass violence on school property, a Class C felony

One count of stalking, a Class C felony

One count of harassing, a Class A misdemeanor

Jones is being held on a $1 million cash surety bond along with bond conditions, if Jones make bond, the Brookland Police Department and Brookland Public School Administration requested that he be ordered to wear a GPS ankle monitor and be barred from all Brookland Public School property and a no-contact order be issued.
