Debbie Elaine Geurin, 68, of Lynn, Arkansas, was welcomed into her heavenly home on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Born on January 14, 1956, in Portia, Arkansas, she was the cherished daughter of Jerry and Shirley (Gaines) Gill.
On June 8, 1974, Debbie married her high school sweetheart, Keith Geurin, and together they built an enduring partnership that lasted for 50 years. As a wife, mother, and especially as “Meme,” Debbie’s heart overflowed with love and wisdom. Her grandchildren were her world, and there was no greater joy for her than watching them grow, offering them the same warmth and care she gave to everyone she loved! Her home wasn’t just a house—it was a refuge, where friends and family could gather for advice, comfort, and a hot meal. Whether it was her famous home-cooked dinners or her heartfelt conversations, Debbie had a way of making everyone feel seen and supported.
For 33 years, Debbie served as a bookkeeper for the Hillcrest School District, where her dedication and integrity left a lasting impact on her colleagues and friends. Outside of work, Debbie’s heart and home were full of life. An active and faithful member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Debbie lived her life as a testament to kindness and love. It would be her utmost desire for all to know Jesus!
Debbie had a deep love for cooking and crocheting! And she could often be found hand-making or shopping for just the right gifts for her grandchildren. She was always looking for ways to make them feel special. Her dining table became the heart of her home, where countless stories were shared, problems were solved, and laughter filled the air. If that table could talk, it would tell tales of life’s ups and downs, and of the countless moments where Debbie’s love and wisdom lifted the spirits of those around her.
She was a true matriarch, and will forever be remembered for her radiant smile, her gentle strength, and the profound love she shared with her family, friends, and community. Her legacy of dedication to her faith will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Debbie was preceded in death by her father Jerry Gill; and her daughter-in-law, April Geurin.
