From Cleburne County Sheriff Chris Brown:
During the early morning hours of Saturday September 14, 2024, I was contacted by the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office with news that they had arrested a Cleburne County Deputy. They advised that they had been conducting a sting operation for solicitation of minors, and arrested the deputy on related charges. I was able to speak to them again this morning and obtain additional information. The deputy was arrested on one count of internet stalking of a child, and one count of traveling for the purpose of an unlawful sex act with a minor. He currently remains in the custody of the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office.

I am not releasing the Deputy’s name at this time because their investigation is still ongoing. However, we are cooperating fully with the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office to provide them any information they need from us.

I have spoken with many of the other employees of the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office this morning, and want the public to know that we collectively as a CCSO family were shocked, saddened, angry, and disappointed by this news. There is no excuse for this type of behavior, and we do not condone or tolerate such actions. The deputy was suspended immediately, and termination paperwork is currently being drafted to provide to him as soon as it is finished.

On a personal note, I am heartbroken that this news will likely come with a broken sense of trust between the community and our Sheriff’s Office. And while I can’t wave a wand and fix that, I want our community to know that the actions of this one person don’t speak for or represent the men and women that serve Cleburne County; they don’t represent our heart or our dedication.

I will do additional press releases as more information becomes available in the coming days, and as always, thank you for the support our community has always shown to the Sheriff’s Office, not only through good times, but hard times as well.
