Lou Ernestene “Tommie” Smith, 96 of Hoxie passed away September 10, 2024, at the Lawrence Hall Nursing Center.
Born June 4, 1928, in Walnut Ridge, to the late Frank Robert and Gracie Ann Smith. She was united in marriage to Austin Smith on September 12, 1946. Tommie loved gardening, growing beautiful flowers and sewing. She spent most of her life working in sales at Robert’s Shoe Store and retired from the Educational Co-Op in Walnut Ridge. She was the oldest living member of the Hoxie Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Austin; her brother, Fred Robert; and her sister, Pat Hicks.
Survivors include her daughter, Sherry Smith Moore of Walnut Ridge; one grandson, Phillip (Jeannie) Moore of Powhatan; one granddaughter, Mica (Darryl) Knight of Paragould; one great grandson, Mason Houston; her special friend, Glenda; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service will be Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the Bryan Chapel with Bro. William Vassar officiating. Pallbearers will be Randy Davis, Joe Hicks, Mike Pinkston, and Lonnie Smith. Honorary Pallbearers are David Sheets, Herbert Moore, and the Golden Girls and staff of the Memory Care Unit at Lawrence Hall. Interment will follow in the Lawrence Memorial Park Cemetery in Walnut Ridge.
Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 AM till the time of service.
