Black River Technical College (BRTC) will be implementing a new scholarship in the Fall 2024 semester in honor of the late Keith Sutton who was Mayor of Pocahontas.
The Keith Sutton Memorial Scholarship will go to a graduating Pocahontas High School student or a Pocahontas High School alumni. In order to obtain the scholarship, the student must be enrolling/be enrolled in a technical program at BRTC. The students must also be full-time and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0.
Mayor Sutton served his community in many ways. He dedicated three decades to his auto body repair business, Auto Efx., before running for mayor. In 2018, Sutton was elected Mayor of Pocahontas, and he held this position until his passing in December 2023.
Outside of his professional and political endeavors, Sutton cherished his family. He married his wife, Stephanie, in 1984, and together they raised two sons, Bradley and Parker.
Stephanie, a dedicated member of Black River Technical College’s Board of Trustees, and formerly a BRTC Foundation Board Member for 27 years shared Keith’s commitment to serving others.
