From the Greene County Sheriff’s Office:
At approximately 11:00 pm on 9/6/24, deputies and I responded to a call of a woman screaming for help in the 100 block of county road 753. While enroute dispatch advised that approximately four gunshots had been fired in the same area. Upon arrival, a female was found lying on the ground with obvious head trauma. Also lying nearby was the alleged male assailant. The suspect had allegedly been actively attacking the female when a neighbor in the area intervened and stopped the attack. The gun shots had come from the Good Samaritan shooting into the air in an effort to draw attention to the incident so that someone could contact the authorities.

Due to the unknown severity of injuries to the female and the injury location, EMS requested a helicopter. With the assistance of two Arkansas State Police troopers, a landing zone was established in a field on county road 745. The female victim was flown to a Memphis hospital for treatment.

Tyler O’Neal, age 32 of Paragould, was taken into custody for Domestic Battery 2nd Degree, a Class C Felony. O’Neal is currently being held in the Greene County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
