Sheriff Kevin Bell today announced “The victim has been identified as Asma Amram of Springdale Arkansas. He had recently moved to Pocahontas. “
According to Sheriff Bell, no foul play is suspected.
The Arkansas Crime lab preliminary finding: no evidence of physical injury, and cause of death is consistent with drowning.
Surveillance footage from the area recorded Asma walking alone to the river bank carrying fishing equipment on 8/20/24 two days prior to being found on 8/22/24 and never returned.
Deputies located his fishing equipment on the river bank where he had fell into the river. Asma became caught in a current and drown.
The RCSO and Pocahontas police worked together to identify Asma.
