A Baxter County man, 33 year old KORY ADAM CHARLTON of rural Mountain Home, was arrested Tuesday afternoon, August 27th, on an outstanding arrest warrant.  CHARLTON had fled on foot from an Arkansas State Police Trooper, which resulted in approximately a two and a half hour manhunt taking place.
KORY CHARLTON was spotted in the Henderson Park Campground on Lake Norfork by a U. S. Army Corp of Engineers Park Ranger at 10:08 AM.  The Park Ranger notified law enforcement of this sighting.  CHARLTON then left the park as a passenger in a red Ford F150 pickup truck.  Officers responded to the area and began looking for the vehicle.
At approximately 10:17 AM, an Arkansas State Police Trooper found the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on U. S. Highway 62 East in the area of the now defunct “Fun Mountain” location.  KORY CHARLTON was seen to be lying down in the truck.  CHARLTON then jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot into a wooded area on the South side of U. S. Highway 62.
Officers began setting up a perimeter, and the canine tracking team from the Arkansas Division of Corrections – North Central Unit in Calico Rock was summoned to the location.  The canine tracking team picked up the trail and began tracking the suspect.  The Mountain Home Police Department also assisted by launching a drone for aerial reconnaissance and observation.
At approximately 12:34 PM, the canine tracking team found KORY CHARLTON in the woods in the general area of Christiansen Road.  He was taken into custody without further incident.
KORY ADAM CHARLTON was transported to the Baxter County Detention Center where he has been incarcerated on charges of:
Revocation Bench Warrant – Felony
Fleeing on Foot – Misdemeanor
CHARLTON is being held without bond and will appear before the Circuit Court to answer on September 9, 2024.
Agencies involved in the incident were the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, Arkansas State Police, Arkansas Division of Correction Canine Team, and Mountain Home Police Department.  Approximately twelve officers from these agencies participated in the search and apprehension of KORY CHARLTON.
