On August 26th, 2024, at 12:45 A.M. a Clay County Deputy was leaving Corning
P.D. when he noticed a vehicle being driven partially in the turn lane northbound on U.S. 67. The vehicle was behind a semi-truck. The deputy pulled out behind the vehicle and observed the vehicle swerve several times into the turn lane. The deputy thought the vehicle was going to pass the semi. After the vehicles went through the stop light the deputy noticed the vehicle had a temporary tag that had expired July 29th, 2024. The tag was on a blue 2024 Jeep Gladiator. The deputy initiated a traffic stop on U.S. 67 in Corning. When the deputy came in contact with the driver, she could not find her driver license or information on the vehicle. The deputy also asked her where she thought she was at, and she said “Missouri”. He then asked her where she was going, and she said “Arkansas”. She also advised the deputy she was going to Kentucky to work. The deputy asked her for permission to search her vehicle, and she granted him consent.
