Around 1:30 AM this morning, deputies were called to assist Pocahontas Police with an armed suspect who had allegedly fired one round at Murphy USA at Walmart.
The suspect who was identified as Jared Forward from Texas was arrested after a standoff with police. PPD officers used incredible restraint and talked the suspect into surrendering his weapon and later into surrendering himself.
Both agencies as well as the Pocahontas Fire department, E911 and Pro Med ambulance worked in a coordinated effort to protect the public and bring the incident to an end with no injuries!
The incident is under investigation by PPD and the suspect is facing several charges.
