A request to place a restructured bond issue on the November ballot has again failed. The proposed bond issue motion was made by Justice Lloyd Clark and seconded by Justice Latham. A vote was then taken and the proposed restructuring of an expiring jail tax to benefit the road department was voted down by a vote of 6-3.
Other discussion’s concerning the Lawrence County Road Department involved a dispute with property owners in Lynn over the road department removing a culvert and not replacing it. Judge Barnhill stated he was told by the land owner to remove it but after discussion in open court, the judge has since come to the realization the person he spoke with did not have the right to make that decision.
Justices agreed that the current culvert/tile policy needs to be revisited and revised if necessary.
