Sharp County authorities say a Williford man is now facing felony charges in Sharp County after he entered the detention center with a meth pipe.
According to the affidavit on July 31st, Sharp County officers observed a vehicle matching a description from an earlier terroristic threatening call.
Deputies executed a traffic stop and consent to search was granted. A set of digital scales were located under the passenger seat with a white residue that field tested positive for methamphetamine.
John Benjamin Curtis, age 54 stated to authorities he didn’t know who the scales belonged to, according to court documents.
Curtis was arrested by deputies and transported to the Sharp County Jail, during the intake process, detention officers discovered Curtis to have a glass smoking device with residue hidden in his underwear. The pipe fell out of his clothing.
Officers retrieved the pipe and bagged for evidence.
Curtis was charged with furnishing prohibited articles, a class B felony and possession of drug paraphernalia, a class D felony.
Curtis, a habitual offender has over 40 arrest in Sharp, Lawrence and Fulton on charges ranging from theft to control substance charges.
Curtis was released on bond.
