Jude, the K-9 for the Black Rock Police Department is making a difference in the illegal drug trafficking in not only Black Rock but all around Lawrence County.

In 2023, Black Rock Mayor Zach Wilson and Black Rock Police Chief decided to invest in a K-9 for the Black Rock Police and to assist other agencies in the area.

In just a few short months “Jude” has been utilized in nearly a dozen drug arrest around the area, including a recent alert in Black Rock that led to one person being not only charged with drugs but also charged with maintaining a drug premise.

“Jude” is a 3 year old full blooded German Shepherd who before his training in Texas was a rescue from Vancouver Washington. Once Jude was trained, Chief Archer traveled to Texas for two weeks of interactive training with Jude and a partnership was born!

Chief Archer and BRPD offer K-9 assistance to other law enforcement agencies operating in the area such as the 3rd Judicial Drug Task Force, Arkansas Probation and Parole, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, WRPD and others.

Jude continues to work and train in the area, always willing to work!
