Officials confirmed the Cherokee Village Police Department is conducting an investigation into the death of a Ukrainian citizen who drowned over the weekend.
Authorities say a body was found in Lake Cherokee on Saturday morning.
Authorities identified the victim as Sergii Fetsiuk, age 46 of Ukraine.
Fetsiuk was in the U.S. on a work visa, he and several other workers from the same farm were using a lake house on West Lakeshore Drive in Cherokee Village.
Authorities say Fetsiuk began drinking on the evening of July 26th and left the home around 3 a.m. to go swimming and never returned.
Fetsiuk’s body was discovered the next morning approximately 30 ft from the shoreline.
