Authorities say a Pocahontas man was arrested by police after he got into a physical struggle with officers trying to detain him, hitting one of the officers and medical staff members.
A Craighead County Judge found probable cause on Wednesday to charge Aaron Wesley Crow, age 43 of Pocahontas 2nd Degree Battery (Felony) battery/injuring emergency medical technician or other medics, along with 2nd Degree Assault/Reckless Conduct (Misdemeanor) and Resisting Arrest.
At 10:07 a.m. on Friday, June 28th JPD went to the Veteran’s Affair Clinic on E. Highland Drive for a reported “irate patient.”
Law enforcement made contact with Crow, who authorities say was visibly upset and shouting obscenities. Officers tried to defuse the situation verbally but were not able.
Police say Crow then made an aggressive move toward clinic staff, prompting officers to take action and detain him to keep them safe.
Crow refused to give up and was then tased by officers, Crow then fought officers and attempted to strike officers.
Crow was taken into custody and then taken to the Emergency Room for a mental evaluation.
Crow again became combative, kicking a nurse while spitting on two other nurses who attempted to provide care.
Crow is currently being held in the Craighead County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond. Crow is due back in court August 23rd.
