On Monday evening the quick thinking of a dispatcher and the quick response of an officer saved a woman’s life.

Lawrence County Dispatch received a 911 call from the residence reporting a carbon monoxide tester going off, while on the phone with dispatchers the phone line went silent.

As dispatchers alerted the Hoxie Fire Department they also tried to call the caller back. Dispatcher’s then ask for a Hoxie unit to respond to the residence on SW Maple.

Within seconds Hoxie Officer Jason Bristow checked on scene and made attempts to contact the homeowner at both the front and back door before making the decision to make a forced entry into the home.

Officer Bristow forced the door open and found an unresponsive female face down on the floor.

Officer Bristow was able to move the female to an outside porch area, MedicOne ambulance was requested to the scene.

The gas company was notified by the Lawrence County Dispatch Center.
