On July 10th , 2024 at approximately 5:17 P.M. a Clay County Deputy observed a pickup truck on Hope Street in Corning with no license plate.

The deputy caught up to the vehicle, and made a traffic stop on Harold Implement parking lot. As the deputy was exiting his vehicle the driver of the truck accelerated and crossed U.S. 67 onto Bobcat Lane headed east at an excessive speed.

The deputy initiated a pursuit of the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle as they traveled east on Bobcat held a clear plastic bag out the window and ripped it open. A white crystal substance went into the air and ground.

Another deputy was behind the first deputy, and he stopped to collect evidence.

The pursuit turned onto Industrial Drive northbound, when the driver held another clear plastic bag out the window and dumped it out. The second deputy again stopped to try to collect evidence.

The pursuit then turned right onto Lee Drive. The driver at this point leaned out the window and started giving the deputy obscene gestures.

As the pursuit crossed the railroad tracks and headed north on CR 169, the driver was cursing, and threw a beer can at the deputy’s truck.

The pursuit ended when the truck lost control at a curve on CR 169 and went into a ditch.
