We have been getting reports of producers finding fall armyworms in their pastures and hayfields all across the state. Don’t get caught offguard! A good way to identify an armyworn is the inverrted “Y” on their head.
Check at least 10 one square foot samples across the field and part the grass to be able to look all the way to the ground. Threshold is when you find 2-3 worms per square foot averaged between the samples. Below is a table listing approved insecticides and their rates. Not every situation involves a chemical treatment.
