Biologists are currently nighttime electrofishing to assess the black bass population in Bull Shoals Lake. During last week’s sampling efforts, they observed large numbers of bass over 15 inches. So far, they have sampled the West Sugarloaf and Trimble Creek arms and have collected several nice Largemouth and Spotted Bass. Bull Shoals Lake currently contains an abundance of Largemouth Bass between 15 and 19 inches, weighing between 2 and 3.5 pounds. The bass spawn is in full swing as some are paired up on beds and some have already spawned.
With so many 2-3 pounders in Bull Shoals Lake, it can be a really fun lake to fish. Whatever your species of choice, it is a great time of year to cast a line towards the bank, as fish can be found in shallow water. We encourage anglers to give Bull Shoals Lake a try, as it not only has a healthy population of bass, but other sportfish species as well!
