Lonnie Allen Blackwell, 71 of Portia, passed away April 28, 2024, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
Born August 2, 1952, in Walnut Ridge, son of the late, Elmer Allen and Allie Buchanan Blackwell. He was united in marriage to Deloris Stracener Blackwell on September 9th, 1972. Lonnie was a mechanic for AgCat and enjoyed hunting and doing woodworking.
He is preceded by his parents; his wife, Deloris; a brother, Norman Nutt; and two sisters, Juanita, and Lenora Doyle.
Survivors include his two sons, Allen Blackwell (Micole) of Walnut Ridge, and Jason Blackwell (Rene’) of Cherokee Village; his daughter, Melinda Whitlow (Aaron) of Portia; three grandsons, Jared Blackwell (Scout), AJ and Will Whitlow; four granddaughters, Brooke Benes (Terry), Keisha Huskey (Michael), Kayley Campbell (NYK), and Zoe Whitlow; eight great grandchildren, Tayson Blackwell, Alex Bradley, Kole Benes, Ryker Huskey, Jaxtyn Blackwell, Sailor Blackwell, Cadence Blackwell, and Charlotte Campbell; six sisters, Jewel Pennington (Colorado), Bunny Corbett, Cybil Brown, Elsie Oldham, Linda Todd, Glendola “Doty” Gaines all of Jonesboro; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be Friday, May 3rd, 2024, at 2 P.M. in the Bryan Chapel with Rev. Craig Adams officiating. Pallbearers will be Jared Blackwell, Ryan Helms, Justin Gott, Eddie Dunavant, AJ, and Will Whitlow. Honorary Pallbearers will be Aaron Whitlow, Terry Benes, Michael Huskey, NYK Campbell, Eric Gaines, Terry Cothern, Darren Rogers, Frank Kelley, Bob Watson, Jerry, and Steven Todd. Interment will follow in the Lawrence Memorial Park in Walnut Ridge.
Visitation will be Friday, from 1 P.M. till 2 P.M.
