On Thursday shortly before 10am, the Lawrence County Dispatch received a 911 call from a female stating a man approached her at the mini-storages across from Tractor Supply in Walnut Ridge and threatened to take her vehicle.
The female gave the dispatcher a description of the male subject and stated that he went down the walking trail after making the threat.
Walnut Ridge Police were dispatched and within minutes a WRPD officer made contact with the individual. The suspect did not comply with officers and pepper spray was deployed. A second officer responded to the scene and the male suspect was taken into custody.
The suspect was identified as Joseph Lewis Settlemoir was arrested and taken to the Lawrence County Detention Center.
Settlemoir has a lengthy criminal record including charges of burglary, arson, terroristic threatening, absconding, criminal mischief and numerous parole violations.
