Last week, Trout Management Program and Jim Hinkle Spring River State Fish Hatchery staff conducted a seasonal sampling of the Spring River trout fishery. The seasonal sampling builds onto current work on the fishery by the Trout Management Program assessing diets, growth and survival of trout and sportfish (Spring River Trout Fishery management plan – https://ow.ly/Ofww50QGsvn).
Along with some nice trout, staff collected some great Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, Walleye, and a number of other fishes while out on the river. Catching both trout and other fish species showcases the diverse fishing opportunities represented on the Spring River trout fishery.
