Arkansas State Police says a minor died in a one-vehicle accident on an ice-covered highway early Wednesday morning south of Mammoth Spring.

According to the Arkansas State Police Fatal Crash Report the victim was a passenger in a Chevrolet 2500 that was traveling south on Highway 289, shortly after 1 a.m.

The ASP fatal crash report stated, “the vehicle lost control due to the ice-covered roadway,” crossed the centerline, traveled off the east side of the highway, and struck a concrete culvert before turning over on its driver’s side.

The identity and age of the minor was not released by the Arkansas State Police.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured, according to the ASP report.
