On October 28th, the Izard County Sheriff’s Department participated in the 25th National Prescription Drug Take Back with other law enforcement agencies across the Nation. This program is done twice a year-one in the spring and one in the fall-and is coordinated by the DEA as a safe way for the public to safely dispose of their unused or unwanted prescription or over-the-counter medications.

Including the medications taken back during this event, Izard County collected over 500 pounds of medications since the take back in the spring.

Thank you to all who participated in this event. If you were not able to attend this event and have unused or unwanted prescription medications that you want to dispose of, you can use the permanent drop boxes located at the Sheriff’s Office, 300 Circle Drive in Melbourne, or at the Sheriff’s Office Sub-Station, 704 West Commerce Street in Horseshoe Bend
