A jury In Craighead County found a 21 year old man guilty of negligent homicide.
On Thursday, Oct. 26th, a jury convicted Eli Joseph Campbell, age 21 of negligent homicide and recommended Campbell be sentenced to one year in the county jail and pay a fine of $2,500.
Campbell ran a stop sign while under the influence at the intersection of County Roads 910 and County Road 905 on Nov. 14, 2021, and struck the vehicle driven by Savannah Fenley, age 26, of Walnut Ridge.
Fenley died at the scene,
a passenger in her vehicle Kyle Bowles, age 27 of Brookland, suffered serious injuries in the accident and was transported by helicopter to a Memphis hospital.
Campbell, age 19 at the time of the crash, suffered only minor injuries and told authorities he had not been drinking “much”, Campbell was taken to a local hospital where a blood test revealed his blood alcohol levels were nearly three times the legal limit.
