Lawrence County Cooperative Extension Warns Of High Nitrates And Acids In Stressed Forages
Producers be aware that during these hot and dry times of fall nitrates along with prussic acid can be high in stressed forages.
There is no test for prussic acid levels but there is a test for nitrates. We can test for nitrates in the field.
If you have any questions or concerns please call the Lawrence County Extension Office at 886-3741. There is no way of telling if a forage is high in nitrates just by observing it.
