Birding Basics – 11:00am-12:00pm

Birding is a great way to tune in to the sounds and sights of Lake Frierson State Park. Join the park interpreter to learn more about birding and how you can get started with this fun hobby. After learning some tips and tricks, we will go birding on the 1-mile loop of the Boundary Trail. If you have binoculars, please bring them. Please wear hiking or tennis shoes, bring water and insect repellent.

Craft Corner: Jig Tying – 1:30pm-2:30pm

The most successful angler is keen observer of nature. Jigs are a customizable tackle option perfect for imitating a variety of favorite fish foods! Join the park interpreter in making our very own hand-tied tackle for a great time on the water.

A Home to Be PROW’d Of – 3:00pm-3:30pm

Fall migration is just around the corner, making it a great time to start your birdhouse prep-work! Join the park interpreter for a demonstration of how you can repurpose household trash items into homes for a declining bird population special to our park.

A SENSE-ational Hike – 10:00am-11:00am

Join the park interpreter for a sense-ational hike along the 1.0-mile Boundary trail! Tune in to the trail and have fun putting your senses to the test. Please wear comfortable hiking/walking shoes.

A Crappie A Day… – 1:30pm-2:30pm

Like all animals, crappie love to eat – but when there’s not enough food to go around, a problem for fish and anglers alike arises. Join the park interpreter to learn more about this popular gamefish species at Lake Frierson State Park, uses for your small catches, and ways you can help our crappie thrive!

No pole? No problem! Join the park interpreter for a demonstration of how you can “upcycle” your empty drink containers to catch fish, all while helping keep our park litter-free!

Lake Frierson State Park

Located on the shores of 335-acre Lake Frierson, Lake Frierson State Park provides visitors with educational and recreational opportunities to enjoy the diverse natural resources found on Crowley’s Ridge. Visitors may enjoy year-round fishing for catfish, bream, crappie, and bass. The visitor center doubles as a fishing bait shop and hosts a variety of live- and dry baits. Other park amenities include a launch ramp, climate-controlled pavilion, picnic sites, playgrounds, campsites, hiking trails and a fishing pier. Park interpreters offer guided hikes, paddle-tours, and other programs throughout the year.
