Gary “Hop” Light, 77 of Minturn, died August 22, 2023, in St. Bernards Hospital.

Born November 29, 1945, in Alicia; son of the late, Cleo and Thelma Hartley Light. Gary was united in marriage to Karen Couch on October 22, 1965. Hop was a car dealer, salesman, and a beloved worker for the Jonesboro Sun for seventeen years. Hop was a family man who loved his family and grandchildren. He served his community well and was a member of the Lawrence County Water District, Minturn City Council, and Lawrence County Water Authority of Imboden.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Glen Light, Jerry Light, and Ronnie Light; two brothers in laws, Carroll Couch and Jerry Couch; and two nephews, Brian Couch and Cody Light.

Survivors include his wife, Karen of the home; three sons, Mark (Jessica) Light of Walnut Ridge, Steve (Maranda) Light of Minturn, and Matt Light of San Antonio, TX; six grandchildren, Bryson Farmer, Olivia Farmer, Logan Light, Lucas Light, Madison Light, and Claire Connolly; five brothers, James Lovell Light of Holly Springs, MS, Ben Light of Batesville, Jack Light of Centerville, TN, Charlie Light of Dallas, GA, and Lavon (Betty) Light of Alicia; three sisters, Jone (Ray) Dacus of Mountain Home, Janet (John) Staudinger of Winchester, and Sharon Goodwin of Hoxie; one brother in law, Charles Baldridge of Minturn; two sister in laws, Kathee Light of Hoxie, and Connie Light of Mountain Home, numerous nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service will be Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 10:00 AM in the Bryan Chapel with Don House officiating. Interment will follow in the Strangers Home Cemetery in Alicia. Pallbearers will be Bryson Farmer, Lucas Light, Logan Light, Chad Couch, Michael Couch, and Jay Light. Honorary Pallbearers will be Danny and Ken Couch, Chris, Jimmy, Darren, David, Ben, Preston, and Ryan Light, Aaron Goodwin, David Baldridge, and Ron Gaither.

Visitation will be Friday from 5 PM til 7 PM at the Bryan Funeral Home.
