Sheriff Kevin Bell of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office reports that three boaters were rescued on Thursday from the Eleven Point river just south of the Blacks Ferry Road bridge.

According to Sheriff Bell, the canoes became trapped on a fallen tree in swift water.

A Pocahontas Fire Department boat was also capsized and sunk during the rescue attempt.

Everyone was pulled to safety and one of the victims was transported with minor injuries. Pocahontas Fire, AG&F and Randolph County SO and several volunteers all assisted.
