The Boyster Family has The Clay County Sheriff’s Department deepest sympathy for the loss of their son Layton yesterday afternoon July 22nd. The Boyster Family lives in St. Francis and Layton attended Piggott Elementary School.

The Sheriff’s Department received a phone call at approximately 4:04 pm that an 8-year-old boy was swimming with some friends in the St. Francis River at what is locally known as Cottonwood Point at St. Francis. They stated the boy had gone under the water and hadn’t come back up.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Department, Dunklin County Sheriff’s Office, Arkansas Game and Fish Officers, Missouri Department of Conservation Officers, Arkansas State Police, Clay County Emergency Task Force, and Clay County Coroner responded.

At approximately 8:26 pm the young child was found. The Sheriff’s Department thanks everyone that assisted in this tragic accident. Also, we would like to thank One MOAR Last Chance for a cooler full of water and Gatorade and for offering any other assistance we might need.
