On July 8, 2023, the Pocahontas Police Department was dispatched to 1804 Archer Street. Pocahontas Arkansas, in reference to a male with a gunshot wound. The Pocahontas Police Officers and Randolph County Sheriff’s Deputies quickly apprehended Corey Garrett Jr. who was the suspect in the shooting.
Medics on scene transported the victim Gregory Rogers to a local hospital with three (3) gunshot wounds.
On 7/10/2023 Corey Garrett Jr. was seen in front of Honorable Judge Alex Bigger and was charged with the following:

- Attempted Murder 2nd Degree 5-10-103 B Felony
- Classification 5-3-203
- Criminal Attempt 5-3-201
- Battery 1st Degree x3 5-13-201 C Felony
- Breaking or Entering 5-39-202 D Felony
- Habitual Offender 5-4-501 Enhancement
- Firearm Enhancement 16-90-120 Enhancement
