Law enforcement conducting a parole/probation compliance check made an arrest after a home visit yielded drugs and paraphernalia at a residence in Black Rock.
Officers from Arkansas Probation and Parole assisted by the Black Rock Police Department and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office searched a residence on Matthews Drive. The suspect, Barrett Layne Matthews was arrested and charged with 4 felony charges and one misdemeanor charge after authorities found him in the possession of meth, marijuana, pills, paraphernalia and urine not belonging to him (used in falsifying drug screening results).
Matthews also had his parole revoked, he was currently on 10 years parole from previous charges and had only been serving his parole since September 2022.
Matthews has previous charges of burglary, DWI, Possession of Meth, Manufacturing a Controlled Substance and numerous parole/probation violations.
