Hoxie officers had a male subject in a silver 2005 Ford Escape flee from a traffic stop shortly after 2pm on Sunday. The subject fled through the city streets of Hoxie and at one point jumped the railroad tracks according to officers.
The pursuit involved units from Hoxie PD, Black Rock PD, Walnut Ridge PD and Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies.
The fleeing vehicle went from Hoxie to Walnut Ridge, then into the Portia area before heading northbound on Hwy 63 toward Black Rock. Officers advised they believed the subject had a weapon in the vehicle.
Officers reported the vehicle was traveling in the wrong lane at nearly 70 mph forcing drivers off the roadway before wrecking out near the Black River Bridge just south of Black Rock.
A medical unit was dispatched to the scene after the accident, the suspect was said to be alert and talking.
Cook’s Wrecker Service of Walnut Ridge was requested to remove the vehicle.
Officers were still on scene at the time of this article, no names have been released by authorities.
