Rex Gentry, 90, of Walnut Ridge passed away surrounded by family, March 7, 2023, at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.
Born January 20, 1933, in Pocahontas to Oscar and Ora Binkley Gentry. He was united in marriage to Ellen Holder on August 4, 2002. Rex was a mechanic, working for John Deere and Rose Implement Company. He loved music, playing anything he could pick up, his guitar, bass, banjo, and fiddle, and he also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a faithful member of the Life Tabernacle Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Geraldine Gentry; a daughter, Sandy Price; four brothers, Bill, Bob, Jerry, and Gene Gentry; five sisters, Helen Barrett, Katheryn Sinks, Blondie Ragsdell, Shirley Ball, and Genevie Greer; two stepdaughters; Loretta DeWitt, and Debbie Adair; and two stepsons, Timmy and Johnny Carr.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen Gentry of the home; two daughters, Betty Gale (John) Porter, and Suzie (Tom) Adams; a sister, Sue (Lorn) Sullinger; step son; Robert Carr; three step daughters, Emma Nash, Ruby Ducote, and Lesa Case; five grandchildren, Crystal (Sammy) Leisure, Cassie McFerrin, Shana (Cody) Maxie, Whitney Gray, and Jubal Adams; nine great grandchildren, Cory (Lauryn) Porter, Taylor, Jack, and Luke McFerrin, Zeke, Knox, and Rex Maxie, Elena Gray, and Hannah Leisure, one great great grandchild, Benji Porter, and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service will be Monday, March 13, 2023, at 1:00 PM in the Bryan Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Colby Binkley officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in the Sharum Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 12:00 PM until the time of service.
