Sheriff Kevin Bell with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office released the following statement:
How do you recognize a thief in Randolph County?? He will be wearing county jail stripes!!!
This is Mr. Jerad Cooper. Wednesday night deputies spotted him on a stolen ATV. He fled and was able to elude police, stole another side by side and was apprehended by the Lawrence County Deputies on Thursday. The second side by side was recovered before the owner knew it was missing.
Mr. Cooper cannot seem to even follow the rules of probation because Thursday night he was also an absconder of the probation system.
This arrest and investigation is ongoing by multiple agencies. Several previous thefts and break-ins have already been linked and we served a search warrant at a residence on Valley Chapel Road tonight. More details will follow.
