Greene County Reports Two Crashes, One With A Fatality, Within Twelve Minutes Of One Another

At approximately 12:11 am this morning, Paragould Emergency Services received a 911 call advising of a two-vehicle crash on Hwy 69 near the Paragould city limits. Upon arrival, units found the crash to be just south of the city limits at the intersection of County Road 907. One person was airlifted from the scene after being extricated by Paragould Fire/Rescue. Conditions of those involved in this crash are unknown at this time.

Approximately twelve minutes later at 12:22 am, Paragould Emergency Services received a 911 call of a one vehicle crash near Oak Grove Elementary / Middle School. The vehicle had taken out a large power pole, causing a widespread outage in the Oak Grove area. Upon first responders’ arrival, they found the lone occupant of the vehicle to be deceased. The Greene County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene at that time.

The vehicle involved in this crash had been reported as stolen from the Kum and Go located at 4609 W. Kingshighway at approximately 11:30 pm, less than an hour prior to the crash. Law enforcement was not engaged in any way with this vehicle at the time of the crash.

Both crashes noted above required the assistance of Craighead Electric, to which they responded promptly. Electricity has been restored to those that were effected this morning.

The Arkansas State Police are working both crashes, and the Paragould Police Department is the lead agency regarding the stolen vehicle. No further information will be released by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office regarding these incidents.
