During Monday night’s heavy rain storm and flooding, the Lawrence County Dispatch Center received a 911 call from the occupants of a vehicle that was swept off Lawrence 451 (Paradise Road) by rising flood waters.

Hoxie Police found the vehicle that was submerged with only the roof of the vehicle above water. Lawrence County Deputies responded to the area but were not able to reach the vehicle which had 4 occupants on the roof of the vehicle that was submerged in Village Creek.

Shortly after arriving, law enforcement lost sight of the vehicle and began searching the flooded banks of Village Creek.

The four individuals were able to swim to safety and walked to a nearby residence.

One female was taken to an area hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening injury. The vehicle was lost to the flood waters to be recovered at a later time.

No names were released by authorities.
