Law enforcement agencies around the area and State Police are teaming up with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for safe travel during the Thanksgiving week, November 21-27.
Thanksgiving is one of the busiest holidays of the year for driving, and there is a greater likelihood of a motor vehicle crash. As you travel, remember to Buckle Up.
During Thanksgiving weekend 2019, there were 279 passenger vehicle occupants killed in traffic crashes across the nation. More than half (54%) were unrestrained, and more than half of the vehicle crashes happened at night.
These deaths and tragedies could have been prevented with the simple click of a seat belt.
Officers will be out on patrol helping drivers remember to buckle up for safer travel. We hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving with family and friends.
