The Arkansas State Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Paragould that has left one man dead and injured an officer. The officer has been taken to a Memphis hospital.

Paragould Police say two separate incidents occurred this morning including an officer-involved shooting.

Officers were called to a home in the 100-block of South Rockingchair Road around 7:14 a.m. Tuesday, regarding an unwanted person. The suspect opened fire on the two officers when they arrived according to authorities. Officers returned fire, striking the male subject who reportedly died at the scene.

One of the officers was shot and taken to Arkansas Methodist Medical Center before being flown to a Memphis hospital for further treatment.

The officer was reported to be in stable condition.

A second call came into dispatch about a domestic dispute with possible weapons while officers were still on scene.

Greene County sheriff’s deputies responded to the second scene, when they arrived, deputies found another man dead of an apparent gunshot wound.

Authorities say that while both incidents happened just miles apart, investigators do not believe that the two incidents are related.
