Bryan Keith Rogers, age 41, of Biggers has been charged with 3 counts of attempted capital murder, 1 count of arson, 1 count of fleeing in a vehicle causing danger and 5 counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer
Formal charges were filed on Thursday, Sept. 8.
Rogers traveled to Sheriff Kevin Bell’s residence around 1:30 on the morning of July 11 and firebombed the residence while Sheriff Bell and his family were sleeping.
Sheriff Bell stated he heard the explosion and saw his house was on fire.
Deputies found Rogers traveling west on Hwy 62 toward Pocahontas and attempted to stop the suspect.
Rogers opened fire on the deputies during the pursuit with an assault rifle.
Law enforcement performed a PIT maneuver, ending the chase, Rogers got out of his vehicle and began shooting at the law enforcement.
Rogers surrendered when officers returned fire.
No officers were injured in the exchange of gunfire.
