Hoxie Police Chief Glen Smith is reportedly on paid leave after a Hoxie Police Department owned gun was sold to a Lawrence County pawn shop.
City officials say they received a tip that the Hoxie Police Chief Glen Smith sold a gun to a pawn shop on Monday that belonged to the Hoxie Police Department and an investigation was launched into the incident.
Chief Smith was placed on leave Wednesday, Aug. 3rd pending the outcome of the investigation.
The case will now be forwarded to the prosecuting attorney’s office for review.
Sources say the issue will be discussed at the Hoxie city council meeting on Tuesday.
