Authorities say a Flippin man was arrested in Sharp County after being found passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle at a local gas station.
According to reports an officer pulled into the parking lot of the Flash Market in Ash Flat to use the restroom at approximately 3:53 a.m. and was met by a station attendant who stated to the officer there was a man passed out in a vehicle and he was concerned.
The officer then walked to the vehicle and observed a white male, later identified as Russell Cox, age 55 slumped over the steering wheel of a Mercedes Benz with the driver’s door open and one foot outside of the car.
The officer was able to wake Cox, in the process, he spotted a glass smoking device with residue in plain view.
Cox was placed under arrest and when asked if there was any other illegal contraband in the vehicle, Cox said to look in the floorboard of the vehicle.
The officer conducted a search of the vehicle and found a black set of digital scales, several bags of methamphetamine weighing 4.2 ounces and more.
Cox was arrested and taken to the Sharp County Detention Center and charged with possession of methamphetamine, heroin, or cocaine with purpose to deliver, a class A felony; possession of drug paraphernalia a, class B felony, and an enhancement penalty for being in proximity to certain facilities.
