From the Jonesboro Police Department:
Around 10:30 this morning, Jonesboro Police Officers were called to the scene of a shooting at Riceland Foods located in the 200 block of Gee St.

Once on scene, they discovered a gunshot victim in one of the buildings located on the complex. Officers began rendering aid until EMS could arrive and transport the victim to an area hospital. The victim’s wounds are believed to be non-life-threatening.

An employee was identified as a person of interest and a description of the suspect, along with an automobile was broadcast. The vehicle was identified and located in the area a short time later. Officers attempted to perform a traffic stop on the vehicle. The suspect did not comply and continued to drive at low speeds. Officers proceeded to pursue the driver of the vehicle through the downtown area. At least two JPD units were intentionally damaged by the fleeing suspect. Other agencies responded to assist.

The suspect’s vehicle travelled through the Nettleton area and a pit maneuver was performed by ASP on a bridge on I555, near Hwy 63B, stopping the vehicle. Officers began giving verbal commands to the suspect to which he did not comply. The suspect barricaded himself inside the vehicle and began firing on the officers. Multiple agencies returned fire, killing the suspect. No other injuries were reported.

The Jonesboro Police are investigating the initial shooting that occurred at Riceland Foods. The Arkansas State Police will be investigating the Officer Involved Shooting. No further details will be released pending further investigation into the events.
